Robert Gaskin was born and educated in England. After graduating from the University of Bath in 1987 with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering with French, he fell in to a career as a Consulting Engineer specialising in Water Supply with Binnie & Partners (now Black & Veatch). He has since worked as an independent consultant and as an employee for Black & Veatch, Louis Berger, MWH (now Stantec) and Atkins (now SNC Lavalin). He has worked on long or medium term assignments in England, Thailand, India, Scotland, Uzbekistan, France, Malaysia, Jordan and Armenia with shorter visits to Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines, Tajikistan, Turkey and UAE.
